Monitoring the Yarra Trams DT3 system on the UBCD436PT scanner, I've noticed many voice transmissions come through showing Talk Group 0 (zero), does the SDS100 scanner have the same issue? I have programmed the correct frequencies, LCN's and TGID's I wish to monitor but it seems to make no difference. Is there a possible solution for this?

Polar181 - I have both of those scanners and I have not encountered this problem. It might be a simple programming error? Thanks for your reply. On the Uniden 436 scanner I have previously programmed a system under MotoTRBO as per the steps in the link you provided. However, I wasn't confident I was hearing all DT3 transmissions from Yarra Trams despite having the correct frequencies, LCN's and TGID's entered as per the tables in this forum. As an experiment I programmed another system under conventional and entered the two voice frequencies for Yarra Trams (418.250 and 418.375). Scanning the conventional system is when I began seeing DT3 transmissions showing as TGID 0 (zero). While monitoring lengthy radio calls I would often switch back and forth (using FL quick keys) between the conventional system and the MotoTRBO system, most of the TGID 0 transmissions heard under the conventional system would not be heard at all under the MotoTRBO system. Sometimes a transmission would show a real TGID (eg. 9 or 11) under the conventional system but the reply would often revert back to TGID 0. Under the MotoTRBO system I have tried toggling the ID search and ID scan functions but still believe a lot of transmissions simply go unheard. Perhaps you could try this experiment yourself to better understand the problem.

FYI The analogue system doesn't marry up directly to the new digital system. There is a large amount of Voice traffic on the old analogue system probably the older Z class trams that house the older radios. It would be interesting to locate if the tram itself will be decommissioned otherwise its a completely new radio to be installed.Polar181 wrote: Wed May 07, 2025 9:19 pm Thanks for your reply. ...... I am currently monitoring both networks at this point. However all the "analogue" frequencies have always been in the 500Mhz range

Thanks, but I wasn't referring to the new TGID's allocated to tram drivers / Fleet Operations. The scenario I described regarding TGID 0 has been going on for well over a year. If you're monitoring the network solely on a MotoTRBO system there's a good chance you're not hearing everything regardless of which TGID's are programmed.

Furthermore you won't get 100% coverage, as your scanner can only deal with 1 TGID, when it's finished with that it will move to the next. Unless you wish to limit the TGID you wish too monitor, even then your still going to "miss" transmissions.
Make sure when you program the locations you have a seperate "Site" for Bourke St and a separate one for Eureka Towers otherwise if they are all programmed together this will probably confuse the scanner
